Hi, I’m Rosanna

My name is Rosanna and I am a trauma-informed therapist and yoga teacher. I’ve spent the past years of my life studying psychology and healing so that I can show up as the person that I was searching for during the times when I struggled the most.

I spent most of my life feeling out of place and trying to make myself as small and invisible as possible. During my late teens I developed severe depression, anxiety and an eating disorder. I went through many therapists and tried many different methods of therapy but I still felt deeply misunderstood and alone. This feeling persisted for years despite me trying to engage in therapy and having a strong intention to heal. I felt like I was destined to feel depressed, isolated and hopeless for my entire life.

I decided that if I couldn’t find anyone to understand me, I would study psychology so that I could become that person for someone else experiencing similar things to what I was experiencing. I studied my undergraduate degree in psychology and then went on to do my Honours in Counselling Psychology, all while going through my own healing process at the same time.

More about my story & approach

I was still feeling lost, alone and disconnected from the world and myself but my passion for psychology and healing remained and I started gaining an interest in more holistic methods of healing such as yoga, breathwork, hypnotherapy, EFT tapping, plant medicine, and meditation. I was able to access a part of myself and my traumas that I had never been able to in conventional talk therapy and I felt for the first time that I was unfolding into a person that I was proud of. Healing always felt impossible for me with a strictly clinical approach until I took a more holistic approach that really took into account matters of the mind and body and how they are interconnected. Treatment of the “whole” person seemed to be the missing link in my previous attempts to heal. This is what made me want to focus on a more integrative approach to therapy yet still keep the very important clinical foundations that serve to add so much value in terms of research and understanding of the human psyche. I applied to study my Masters in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University in New York City. I am very grateful that I was accepted into the program as it was the perfect combination of clinical and holistic and it allowed me to specialize in “Spirituality, Mind and Body” – a perfect fit.

What I learned in that journey is that I was searching for myself all along. Clarice Lispector says that “it is inside myself that I must create someone who understands” and this is one of the foundational beliefs I have behind my approach to therapy and helping others. As you embark on the journey towards your own healing, I want you to know and understand that your pain and suffering is coming from a disconnection with yourself. You have the capacity to direct your own healing, even when that feels impossible. I use everything that I have learned over the years, as well as my ongoing education to formulate a personalized, unique approach to each of my clients.

“Healing is not becoming the best version of yourself. Healing is letting the worst version of yourself be loved.”
